using AI software to simplify and streamline the recruitment process, and translate veteran work experience for recruiters

The project underwent the full human-centered design process, from research to final prototype. The final product strikes a balance between an efficient recruitment tool and a humanizing applicant overview that promotes diversity and inclusion in the hiring process.

how can we address the under-employment rate of qualified candidates with unconventional work backgrounds?

KEY ISSUES:

1. Military experience does not translate on resumes
2. Traditional hiring practices and transitions are very expensive
3. Qualified veterans have difficulty getting employed and can be overlooked, leading to dissatisfaction in their work.

research methods

  • one-on-one interviews with recruiters

  • affinity mapping and workshops, using Miro as a tool to understand recruitment pain points

  • competitor analysis

design goals

1. Make the candidate screening process more efficient.

2. Provide deeper insight into a candidate than standard recruitment tools and encourage further relationship-building between recruiters and candidates.

3. Encourage collaboration between multiple people and simplify the process of sharing information about candidates.

4. Consider a range of recruiter familiarity with diversity and inclusion-conscious hiring practices. Acknowledge inexperience with unconventional backgrounds, such as veteran terminology.

approach

The final design sought to acknowledge the need for improved efficiency during the recruitment process, while also maintaining candidates' humanity and diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. Along with delivering a functional prototype, I developed a brand identity that included choices like color, typography, and UI components.

human-centered AI use

Jargon's design utilizes AI to quickly define unfamiliar terminology in applicant backgrounds. Additionally, it identifies key responsibilities and skills associated with any role, helpful for veterans and other applicants whose work experience might be unfamiliar to recruiters.

how can we utilize Jargon's AI capabilities to accommodate diverse applicant backgrounds and highlight the human behind the professional?
